NEXT STEP FC

TRUST - TEMPO - TOGETHERNESS

WHY WE DO IT?

Football has given me a wonderful life. It has been filled with adventure, success and the occasional tear. The most important aspect of my life, that I thank football for, is the people that have come into my life as a consequence. From every walk of life, these people have influenced me in many different ways and given me confidence to make decisions that led me to where I am today.

Religion aside, I have seen nothing else bring so many people together for a common reason.

GO INTO ANY COMMUNITY ACROSS THE

WORLD AND STROLL INTO THE CENTRE

OF IT WITH A FOOTBALL. YOU WON'T

NEED TO KNOW THE LANGUAGE, THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR POLITICAL

VIEWS. WHEN THE BALL IS KICKED

EVERYONE IS EQUAL!!

Football is not exempt from scandal. In fact it's more often than not that football, as an industry, is not doing enough with the global community to better the world around us.

We all have a moral obligation to future generations to leave a better world than the one we came into. At Next Step this is ingrained into everything we do. Development before success. Be a great person before a great player.

In Cambodia, post covid, it feels like we've been time ported back three decades. Progress has halted in 2020 I read; 500,000 young adults were forced out of school, internships or graduate programs.

I am a proud English man but Cambodia is my home. I know that in order to fulfill my morale obligation to my two sons and the millions of Khmers with them, I had to do something to help this country that I love.

I do this job because, I believe in the power of this game and the positive social impacts it can have. I do this because, I believe everyone deserves to be happy and enjoy their work.

I do this because, football gives the world the very best version of me.

I do this because, I've chosen to spend my life helping young people find their path. I believe the life skills learned whilst playing this game are transferable to any walk of life/job industry and the benefits intangible.

I do this because, it's the only way I know how to influence the world around me in a positive way. I truly believe that a life spent making others happy is a life well spent. I've experienced so much happiness as a side effect to this belief.

WHAT'S OUR STORY?

Next Step FC was co-founded in 2013 by Charlie Pomroy & Keo Sophal who share a vision of taking their passion for football and using it to develop the world around them. This vision has translated to a system that has seen the successful graduation of 21 players to now play professionally in Cambodia with all but one under the age of 20. Not to mention 4 more graduates have taken coaching positions and a further 15 into various roles across football.
